Vintage Perry Ellis America Cream Functional Clutch Handbag
Perry Ellis
This is well-made cream colored clutch, made with several compartments that have zip closures. It is lined with cream fabric, and there is one small visible stain. Otherwise, this is in pristine condition and appears to be hardly used. Very reminiscent of the 1980s when Perry Ellis reigned supreme ;-) Measuring 12” wide and 8” tall. It doesn’t appear to be a deep clutch, measuring 1” when lying flat, but the construction of this makes it flexible and it will hold all of your necessities.
Condition: Excellent
“Perry Ellis (1940-1986) was regarded as an outstanding designer of American sportswear in the 1970s and 1980s. In order to appreciate the far-reaching allure of his best-known invention, a deceptively simple homemade-looking sweater, one should understand the potent appeal that American sportswear held in the 1970s. Separates dressing at that time meant individual style-a radically new approach after more than a century of one dominant silhouette following another. And individual style was particularly relevant at a time when gender roles were being tossed in the air. What Perry Ellis did best was take elements of classic American style-stadium coats, tweed jackets, and culottes-and adapt them to suit changing times.”
